The Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners recently declared Monday, Oct. 9, 2023, as Miccosukee Day. This proclamation serves as a profound recognition of the tribe's enduring strength and resilience. Moreover, it marks the beginning of a new tradition, as the second Monday of every October will now be celebrated as Indigenous Peoples' Day in Miami-Dade County.
