On September 1975, the Child Care Center at Florida International University opened after 2 years filled with surveys, studies, and discussions which stemmed from a community Child Care Planning Conference. The Child Care Center, housed in a trailer on the west side of campus beside the tennis courts, served 45 students ages 2 1/2 to 5 from the FIU and surrounding community. The history of the Child Care Center can be found in the University Archives in press releases, memos, annual reports and FIU student newspaper articles. To see more items detailing the history of FIU visit the online collections of University Archives or the Student Newspaper.
